Day Excursions from the Seefeld Plateau
The Seefeld plateau lies in a perfect position for car drivers to use their vehicles to see something of the surrounding countryside. Germany borders the plateau to the north, while Italy is only 30-40 minutes' drive to the south.
But the main advantage of having a car is to see some of the sights which are more difficult to get to on the bus or on public transport. We have picked out some of the best day trips in the car:
Many of the travel agencies on the plateau offer day excursions to local places of interest - whether scenic spots or historically important sights.
Most of the bus trips will have German commentary - the ones which are organised for the UK travel market by tour operators like Inghams, Crystal and Thomson, will have English commentary.
Bookings can be made at the various travel agencies in the villages or by enquiry at the tourist offices.
The train journey from the Seefeld plateau to Innsbruck is one of the most spectacular in the Tyrol. The trip to Mittenwald to visit the village and ride the Karwendelbahn is also worthwhile.
