Wildsee - Seefeld
The Wildsee, to the south of Seefeld's pedestrian centre, is a favourite spot for visitors to walk, swim or sunbathe. Although the lake itself is not protected, it is bordered to the south by the Reither Moor conservation area and to the west by the steep slope of the Gschwandt woods. This has meant that development around the lake has been limited and preserved much of its attractive atmosphere.
Walking
The walk around the lake takes about 45 minutes and is a favourite for people's first afternoon in the resort. From the centre, head out along Innsbruckerstrasse to the junction before the lake.
Turn right on the road towards the Gschwandtkopf and, after crossing the small stream, a path is visible which leads around the back of the lake. After passing the Cafe Wildsee, the path leads into the woods (which are populated by squirrels who are practised beggars).
The junction of paths at the southern end gives the option of continuing down to Auland or turning left and through the Reither Moor and return to Seefeld along Innsbruckerstrasse.
Swimming
There are two private areas of the Wildsee set up for sunbathing and swimming - Cafe Wildmoos on the western side and the Strandbad on the eastern side. Pedalos are also available for rental.
